The Great Depression started in 1929 and went on until 1939, although the effects lasted a lot longer. It all started when the Wall Street stock market crashed and lost billions of dollars. Fashion of the 30's:
In the 1930's zippers were becoming more popular in clothing. (see middle picture.)

This is a picture of Philo Farnsworth with a television that he invented in 1927. Televisions started to become popular in the 1930's, although radio was still popular for many people.
Popular Movies:
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs came out in 1937 as the first full length animated film. Other movies such as The Wizard of Oz and Heidi came out in the 1930's.
